The GTMA, BPF and IOM3 are jointly sponsoring the 2003 Mouldmaking conference in Coventry, UK. On 20 Feb, 2003, mouldmakers from around the country will be gathering at the Allesley Hotel, for a packed programme examining the changes taking place in the industry, including business and technical presentations as well as the opportunity to network and visit the accompanying exhibition. The keynote speaker will be Mike Sellek, recently appointed Assistant Director of the Chemicals Unit at the DTI.

Mike will be discussing his role as 'face of the plastics industry' within the Department and how he will be promoting the industry's cause within and beyond Government.

The potential of regional cluster-based working practices will be discussed by Mr Woodley, from Rapra, while Peter McGee of Metcom will be outlining the opportunities available to the mouldmaking sector through the Com-met 2005 project.

Technical presentations will include a detailed look at two-shot moulding, by Nigel Kettle, Technical Manager, Billion UK, and an examination of the interaction between part design and mould cooling, by Mr Henry, of Moldflow (Europe).

The intensive day's programme will be brought to a close by Robin Mackie, MD of Fitstogether, who will be looking at new concepts in rapid product development with which to collapse the timescale needed to bring new products to market.
